The Work of the People

Communion Bread Recipe

Combine in bowl:
     1-1/2 c. whole wheat flour
     1/2 c. white flour
     1/4 tsp. salt
     3/4 tsp. baking soda

Add and mix well:
     2 tsp. vegetable oil;

Add:
     3/4 c. cold water
     3 T. molasses or honey (a combination of the two works well)

Mix well.  Knead about 2 minutes on a lightly floured surface.  Divide into three equal parts.  Roll each part out into a 6-7 inch circle.  Press a knife in the center of each loaf to make the mark of a cross.  Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees on an ungreased baking sheet.
